Am I correct in thinking that you can now register a TVR Chimaera in France?
I have the opportunity to buy a brand new, unregistered left hand drive 5.0 Chimaera, one of the last from the Malaysian factory. I would consider it if I can register it in the Dordogne region where I intend to live in a couple of years time.
Regards
Jim Hobbs.

Hi Jim,
I support what "TVR" had worte to you. it must have an "EU Conformity Certificate".
With that one it should be no problems ... I´d registered mine this last summer without any difficulty. Though seems by posts on this board, it´s not the same everywhere in France, depending on locals admins. , so you better ask to yours first...
Good luck,
Varso

Registering
Don't know if this is of any use, but I'm going through the process myself in Charente Maritime having brought over a UK registered Chimaera.
Drop me a note if I can help.

Hello Jim
Not sure that I quite agree with Le TVR or Lord Varso. I acquired a 1998 RHD Griff 500 in England in February and received papers for French registration from the DRIRE in Toulouse at the end of March, two weeks after submitting a dossier. The car, to best of my knowledge, does not have an e11*xxxx Vin plate.
Good luck anyway and the same to you Malcolm.
Hope to meet up with you both at Le Mans Classic in July.
Cheers
Philippo

Hi again Jim,
this is to ascertain what already wroted: you´ll no have any problem with a Chim: they are all "certifieds" from 1996 onwards. What´s not the case unfortunately for the Griff (so Philippo is right about the proceeding for his own, but not for the Chim...., sorry Philippo..).
Go ahead chap !!

Thanks guys for the information.
Although I am not leaving Hong Kong for a few more years I might take the plunge and buy the left hand drive car and export it from here via the UK to eventually end up in Perigueux.
We will be at our house end of Jun to Mid July if anyone would like to share a bottle of Red.......

I thought I had logged on!!!!
Never mind, it is me, Jim Hobbs who started the thread...........
We are still not living there full time yet. We are trying to renovate a house to move into when we leave Hong Kong. Newly built triple garages with attached workshop are waiting to receive my retirement 'toy'.

I've been living in France since 1993 and would like to import a 1998 350i with a modified engine. Will the DRIRE accept this?Lord Varso a écrit :Hi again Jim,

All advice gratefully received.
A 1998 350i
Is this a Tasmin car or a T350?
I know the Tasmin 350i was sold here, I saw 2 at TVR France in 1992.
Documents should exist but you should contact TVR to see for a Declaration of Conformity.
That will help with the DRIRE but I expect you will need to present the car to service des mines....
